EZ-Link was formed by the Land Transport Authority (LTA) on January 8 2002, to manage Singapore's single largest contactless Stored Value Smart Card System that has been mainly used for payments on public buses and Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) trains since April 2002. Specifically, EZ-Link is responsible for the sale, distribution and management of ez-link cards as well as to process the clearing and settlement of all ez-link card transactions generated in both the transit and non-transit (retail/merchant) sectors. To date we have issued over 10million cards and have achieved the highest wallet amongst the contactless pre-paid card market in SIngapore. |

On a daily basis, over 8 million financial transactions are processed throughout our system and the number is on a constant rise every day with the proliferation of ez-link services within the retail and F&B sectors.
In December 2008, EZ-Link started sales of the new ez-link cards which comply with the Singapore Standard for Contactless ePurse Application (CEPAS) in support of the national vision of transforming our society to a cashless society.
The compliance to CEPAS also presents EZ-Link with the opportunity to enter into new markets like ERP and Electronic Parking System (EPS) payments as the new ez-link cards can be used in the 2nd generation of In-Vehicle Units (2GIU) which is expected to be widely available by April 2009.
