Press Release 2002

FIRST CHILD EZ-LINK CARD LAUNCHED ON CHILDREN'S DAY

Date: 1 October 2002
Issued By: Transit Link Pte Ltd

Pre-school children below 8 years of age can now join the ranks of commuters to go contactless. The much-awaited Child ez-link card, which allows its eligible users to travel on concession fares, will be available from TransitLink's Ticket Offices on Children's Day, 1 October 2002 onwards.

The Child ez-link Card is electronically encoded with the child's name and birth certificate/passport number. This would personalise the card to allow parents to report a lost card and have it blacklisted. To enable this useful feature, parents need to produce a photocopy or the original copy of the child's birth certificate or passport when making the purchase. Each child is eligible for one card only. To report loss, parents can call 1800 LOST RPT (1800 567 778) which operates from 8am to 6pm seven days a week.

Each Child ez-link Card will be set to expire on the 31st of March in the year the child turns 8. A School Smartcard will be subsequently issued to the child when he/she enters primary one in an eligible government/ government-aided school.

Priced at $6, it comprises a $1 deposit and a minimum $5 stored value. All subsequent replacements for lost / physically damaged cards can be purchased from any Ticket Office. An administrative fee of $10 will be charged in addition to the new card's deposit and travel value. This fee is however not applicable for replacements of electronically faulty cards.

For more information, commuters can visit www.transitlink.com.sg or call TransitLink Hotline at 1800 767 4333.
