SINGAPORE, 27 August 2009 – EZ-Link will be unveiling the new EZ-Reload by GIRO service, an auto GIRO top-up facility that complements the existing EZ-Reload by Card service which currently accepts auto top-ups via credit and debit card accounts. Users of the new ez-link card that is CEPAS-compliant can apply for the new EZ-Reload by GIRO service from 27 August 2009 onwards to enjoy the convenience of auto top-up by GIRO when the current Bank GIRO Scheme that is offered by TransitLink Pte Ltd cease operation on 1 October 2009. Like EZ-Reload by Card, EZ-Reload by GIRO offers the convenience of auto top-up and peace of mind about having sufficient funds when they need it for public transport, ERP as well as payments at some retail outlets. All for a nominal convenience fee for each auto top-up made.

However as an added incentive for commuters to sign up, application fee will be waived for the first 6 months, which is until 26 February 2010. A convenience fee of S$0.25 will be levied upon each EZ-Reload by GIRO top-up, similar to the convenience fee for the EZ-Reload by Card.

Besides facilitating auto top-up for ez-link cards used for bus and MRT rides, EZ-Reload by GIRO also supports top-ups for cards used by motorists in the new generation in-vehicle unit (IU) or dual-mode IU of their vehicles. Whether you are a commuter or a motorist with a dual mode IU installed in your vehicle, EZ-Reload by GIRO ensures a peace of mind knowing that you will always have sufficient funds in your ez-link card when you use it.

Mr Nicholas Lee, Executive Director of EZ-Link Pte Ltd, said, “We are very happy to offer yet another avenue for top-up of the new ez-link card that is CEPAS-compliant, and strongly believe that it will bring about greater convenience to ez-link cardholders.
