EZ-Link to unlock a new era of smart living at Gem Residences

With a tap of their ez-link cards, residents of Gem Residences can gain access to their homes,

book facilities and enjoy an array of lifestyle services.

SINGAPORE, 18 May 2016 – EZ-Link Pte Ltd, Singapore’s largest issuer of CEPAS-compliant cards, together with the developers of Gem Residences – Gamuda Berhad, Evia Real Estate and Maxdin Pte Ltd – announced that the upcoming club concept condominium in Toa Payoh, will be the first residential project in Singapore to offer residents the use of ez-link enabled cards which have an even higher level of securely configuration. This new offering will provide future residents with greater levels of mobility and convenience.

By registering their ez-link cards as their access keycards to common areas and lifts as well as at intercoms, Gem Residences dwellers will not need to carry a separate condominium access card.  Apart from convenience, the EZ-Link system also gives greater flexibility in managing access cards to each household.  Condominium owners will also have the option of using the same ez-link cards, or even their NFC-enabled smart phones powered by EZ-Link, to enter their homes by upgrading to a smart door lock system.

Besides enabling access, the same registered ez-link cards can also be used to book facilities at the condominium instead of using cash. The EZ-Link infrastructure has also enabled innovative services such as the Smart Locker System for residents to pick up parcels delivered to them while they are out, in-house car-rental service, 24-hour concierge services and other self-service kiosks.

“EZ-Link is pleased to turn the smart lifestyle vision and revolutionary club concept of Gem Residences into reality. This project creates a powerful illustration of the limitless propositions that an ez-link card can realise by building upon our robust infrastructure. It represents a revolutionary step forward in our vision for the ez-link card to be the only card needed, not just when you are outside, but even when you are at the comfort of your home,” said Mr Nicholas Lee, Chief Executive Officer, EZ-Link Pte Ltd.

Mr Vincent Ong, Managing Partner of Evia Real Estate, said, “As part of our club condo concept, we aim to provide not just top-notch amenities to our residents, but also first-rate service for which convenience is a key focus. We are happy to have partnered EZ-link to harness the potential of the ez-link card – an integral part of most people’s daily lives – to bring residents even greater convenience in home living.”

Engineered by MQuest Pte Ltd, EZ-Link’s authorised and certified smart card access vendor, the ez-link card-enabled features such as Smart Condo Access, Wireless Electronic Door Lock and Locker System in Gem Residences are part of MQuest’s Smart Home and IOT product lineup, and are certified under the Singapore Green Building Product certification scheme.

About EZ-Link Pte Ltd

EZ-Link Pte Ltd was formed on 8 January 2002. Its core business is the clearing and settlement of all ez-link card transactions generated in transit and non-transit (retail/merchant) environments, as well as the sale, distribution and overall management of ez-link cards. To date, more than 17 million new CEPAS-compliant ez-link cards have been issued. This is in tandem with the government’s plan to promote cashless payments in Singapore. In line with this vision, the new ez-link card is now also accepted as a mode of payment for Electronic Road Pricing (ERP) and at carparks fitted with the Electronic Payment System (EPS) when used in the dual-mode in-vehicle unit. In 2013, EZ-Link launched the “My EZ-Link Mobile” application, the world’s first Near Field Communication (NFC) mobile application for contactless card top-ups. In 2015, EZ-Link unveiled two new innovations in Singapore, EZ-Charms, the first non-card form factor, as well as the EZ-Link Rewards with Perx to reward commuters for using public transport with the ez-link card.
