Soar into the skies with EZ-Link’s National Day 2018 commemorative cards

Exclusive designs feature SharityTM and Ang Ku Kueh Girl® alongside SAF Red Lions and RSAF Black Knights; with part of proceeds going to Community Chest

SINGAPORE, 16 July 2018 – EZ-Link Pte Ltd, Singapore’s largest issuer of CEPAS-compliant cards, announced the launch of special edition National Day ez-link cards today, to commemorate Singapore’s 53rd National Day celebration. With the unique card design, EZ-Link hopes to promote teamwork, courage and culture amongst Singaporeans while nurturing young local talents.

The cards feature Community Chest’s mascot, SharityTM (爱心小象); local cultural character Ang Ku Kueh Girl® (红龟粿女孩), and showstoppers of National Day Parades – the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) Red Lions and Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) Black Knights. One design depicts SharityTM and Ang Ku Kueh Girl® holding hands with the Red Lions while the other portrays them soaring into the skies together with Black Knights fighter jets, giving tribute to their past years’ performances.

Together, the designs symbolise Singaporeans working hand in hand, regardless of race or religion, to strive towards greater heights, in line with NDP 2018’s “We Are Singapore”
theme. It also salutes those who protect the nation, enabling Singaporeans to have a safe and conducive place to achieve their aspirations; and reminds younger Singaporeans to rediscover their culture by featuring Ang Ku Kueh Girl®, a lively, modern girl who does not lose touch of Singapore’s heritage. Ang Ku Kueh Girl® and Friends™ is a local cultural studio featuring young talented illustrators, founded by Wang Shijia.

EZ-Link will donate $0.50 to Community Chest for every special edition card sold, to urge Singaporeans not to forget the less fortunate in our society as the nation progresses.

“As a card that grows with Singapore for Singaporeans, EZ-Link hopes to bring together pivotal ingredients enabling our nation’s growth in the past 53 years onto our cards – unity, courage and tradition. We also want to use this special occasion to support young budding local creators to use EZ-Link card as a canvas to display their talent and do our part in contributing back to the society by donating part of the proceeds to Community Chest,” said Mr Nicholas Lee, Chief Executive Officer of EZ-Link Pte Ltd.

“We are delighted to partner EZ-Link Pte Ltd in this creative initiative to celebrate our nation’s independence and engage the wider community to care for the less fortunate. This year also marks 35 years since Community Chest first set out to empower lives with care and unite the community in trust, to serve those in need. With the support from EZ-Link to feature Sharity elephant, our iconic symbol of care and compassion, we hope to encourage everyone to care and share within our community. We look forward to a continued partnership with EZ-Link to build a caring and inclusive society”, said Ms Charmaine Leung, Managing Director of Community Chest.

The 2018 Special Edition National Day ez-link card is exclusively available in two designs. They will be progressively available at $12 each (with $7 load value) at TransitLink Ticket Offices starting from 17 July 2018, while stocks last.
