No more convenience fee for EZ-Reload top-ups with Mastercard and Visa

EZ-Link also makes auto top-up application instantaneous to promote e-payment adoption

SINGAPORE, 1 August 2018 – EZ-Link Pte Ltd, Singapore’s largest issuer of CEPAS-compliant cards, announced that EZ-Reload top-ups made with Mastercard and Visa credit or debit cards will no longer come with $0.25 convenience fee, from 1 August 2018 onwards.

In addition to making the auto top-up function free, EZ-Link has also moved application for the service from web-based forms to the EZ-Link App, cutting down the approval process from five days to minutes. Users of both Android and iOS phones can now register for EZ-Reload in-app and those with NFC-enabled Android phones can also activate the service instantly. Users of iOS phones will be provided with an ARN code in-app for activation at any General Ticketing Machine.

“EZ-Link is making a concerted effort to contribute to Singapore’s goals to promote e-payment adoption and reduce cash handling. We have taken away the convenience fee to encourage more members of the public to use EZ-Reload, in a bid to further discourage Singaporeans from using cash to top up their EZ-Link. We will continue to work with financial institutions and our partners to make topping up free across all our channels,” said Mr. Nicholas Lee, Chief Executive Officer of EZ-Link Pte Ltd.

Currently, EZ-Link has close to 400,000 EZ-Reload users. EZ-Reload is a service by EZ-Link that automatically tops up a user’s registered EZ-Link when it has insufficient value.

To further promote the use of EZ-Reload, EZ-Link has also partnered with DBS/POSB to incentivise new applicants of EZ-Reload. From 1st August 2018, new applicants of EZ-Reload using DBS/POSB cards will also enjoy a 10% rebate on their public transport rides during the campaign period from 1 August 2018 – 30 September 2018.
