EZ-Link Now an Accepted Mode of Payment on oBike Mobile Application

All Android users in Singapore to top up oBike Wallets on the go with ez-link cards

SINGAPORE, 3 October 2017 – Starting today, ez-link card users will have one more attractive and seamless travel option to choose from. EZ-Link Pte Ltd, Singapore’s largest issuer of CEPAS-compliant cards, and oBike Asia Pte Ltd today announced a new partnership that enables ez-link card payment for oBike Android mobile app users. The acceptance of ez-link cards will allow even more commuters to enjoy cycling as a healthier and eco-friendly travel option.

Leveraging on EZ-Link’s Near-Field Communication (NFC) mobile payment technology, users simply need to tap their ez-link cards onto the back of their Android mobile phones to top up their oBike wallets. They can then see EZ-Link M-Payment as a payment option when they login to their oBike app on their Android phones and select it to initiate payment for the top-up.

EZ-Link is working with MGG Software, the solution provider of EZ-Link M-Payment platform, to add more features progressively, like the refund of oBike deposit to ez-link cards, in the Android mobile app. There is no additional charge for using EZ-Link M-Payment.

“EZ-Link is excited to embark on this new journey with oBike to enable more commuters to enjoy oBike rides with their ez-link cards. Beyond public transit and retail, we are always looking for opportunities to enhance the benefit of the ez-link card and expand the usage to new lifestyle categories. It is our way of contributing to Singapore’s smart nation goal by using technologies to bring about better, more enjoyable living. This is a momentous start for EZ-Link as we continue to bring many other mobile payment options to our customers in the near future,” said Mr Nicholas Lee, Chief Executive Officer, EZ-Link Pte Ltd.

“As a homegrown and leading bike-sharing operator in Singapore, oBike is thrilled to partner EZ-Link in supporting all Singaporeans on their journeys; whether it is on their first or last mile commute, or simply having a family day out. With the added convenience of being able to top up their oBike wallets via EZ-Link, we hope to empower all users across ages and lifestyle needs, to travel seamlessly whenever they hop on an oBike”, enthused Mr Edward Chen, Co-founder and Chief Marketing Officer of oBike.

“The launch of contactless payment for oBike users in Singapore is a major milestone for us. Enabling the local community to use our service easily has always been at the top of our priority and we are excited to partner EZ-Link to make this happen”, Mr Chen added.
