The Standard Ticket (ST) is a contactless smart card for single trip travel on the MRT and LRT only. It replaces the magnetic Single Trip Ticket with effect from 14 October 2002.
The ST can be purchased at the General Ticketing Machine (GTM) located in MRT and LRT stations. It is valid for use on the day of purchase only.
The price of the ST includes a deposit of $1, which is refundable upon return of the ticket. The deposit is set at $1 to ensure that commuters take care of the card and not discard them when the travel value becomes zero. The deposit can be claimed at the GTM by returning the ticket within 30 days after the date of purchase.
User Guides on the ST are available for passengers to pick up at the stations. During the first month of the launch, SMRT ambassadors will be deployed to assist passengers at selected busy MRT stations located in the tourist/shopping areas, central business district and residential areas.
