An islandwide hunt to encourage Singaporeans to have their cards exchanged soon and to enjoy a variety of early bird benefits

SINGAPORE, 9 April 2009 – EZ-Link Pte Ltd is on a lookout for the 2.5 millionth Adult Anonymous ez-link card to be replaced with a new CEPAS-compliant card across all card exchange venues in Singapore. The owner of the card will walk away with attractive prizes sponsored by Singapore Post and ACE Insurance Limited, such as a pair of air tickets to Hong Kong, an additional $50 worth of top-up value in the new ez-link card, 1-year free insurance coverage under EZ-Link CardShield, a limited edition Peranakan Stamp Gift Set along with other prizes.

Since the initiation of the mass ez-link card replacement exercise in January this year, more than 2.4 million ez-link cards have been exchanged for the new CEPAS-compliant cards. In a bid to encourage those who have not had their ez-link cards replaced, EZ-Link has embarked on a collaborative effort with the Singapore Post and ACE Insurance to roll-out a series of promotional campaigns, to encourage commuters to replace their cards before September 2009.

Owners of the new PAS-compliant Adult Anonymous ez-link cards are invited to registertheir cards at EZ-Link’s website to receive free six months accidental Permanent Total Disability insurance coverage of up to $5,000 while travelling on public transport using their new ez-link card. In conjnction with the ongoing mass replacement exercise, every application made by 30 June 2009 will also give card holders a chance to win a cash prize of $1088 in the lucky draw organized by ACE Insurance.

Owners of the Adult Anonymous ez-link card can also look forward to a chance to win attractive cash rewards of up to $1,000 in the SingPost monthly ez-link replacement draw when they drop by any of the 62 Singapore Post Office branches to have their current ez-link cards exchanged. The monthly draw period is from January to September 2009, with three lucky winners to be picked each month. This is in addition to the complementary $5 vPOST Shopping Voucher that accompanies each card exchange. From now till end of April 2009, special dedicated queues will be created across 10 selected SingPost branches to better facilitate this card exchange exercise and ease waiting time. The 10 SingPost branches are Ang Mo Kio Central, Bukit Batok Central, Change Alley, Hougang Central, Jurong Point, Seng Kang Central, Singapore Post Centre, Tampines Central, Toa Payoh Central and Woodlands Central.

From July 2009, new car owners will join motorcyclists and commercial vehicle drivers already fitted with the new dual-mode In-vehicle Unit (IU), to enjoy the convenience of making Electronic Road Pricing(ERP) payments with their new ez-link cards. The service will be made available in tandem with the introduction of the new IU by end-June for private car owners. Motorists whose vehicles are fitted with the new IU can use the CEPAS-compliant ez-link card for parking payments at car parks equipped with Electronic Pricing Systems (EPS) which will be progressively upgraded from October 2009.

Apart from the regular top-up channels that are widely available at all MRT/LRT stations and bus interchanges, ez-link card owners have taken to the added convenience of topping up their ez-link cards at DBS and POSB ATMs which can top-up both the new as well as the previous ez-link cards.
