EZ-Link and TransitLink launched their inaugural EZ-Link Card Donation Drive today. Funds raised via this donation drive will benefit Asian Women’s Welfare Association’s (AWWA) TEACH ME, a social welfare programme supported by the Community Chest. Therapy and Educational Assistance for Children in Mainstream Education (TEACH ME) is a unique programme that provides children with physical disabilities and intellectual capabilities the opportunity to be integrated into mainstream education to help them achieve their full potential.
The public can make donations by dropping their spare ez-link cards or used Standard Tickets (single trip MRT cards) into donation boxes located at three major locations: City Hall MRT Station, Orchard MRT Station and Changi Airport MRT Station. EZ-Link and TransitLink hope to raise S$25,000 over six months via this ez-link card donation drive.
This charity drive aims to promote community awareness of AWWA TEACH ME Programme’s objectives and the needs and potential of these children. The programme supports over 5,000 children, from ages two to 18 years old, of varying physical disabilities and intellectual capabilities the opportunity to be integrated into mainstream education.
Through AWWA TEACH ME, these students receive rehabilitative support like physiotherapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy, to educational and psychological support through resource teachers and educational psychologists and social support through social activities and outings. The programme also caters for loan of specialist equipment to clients, prescription and assessment of assistive devices, resource library for clients and their family members.
