Issued By: EZ-Link Pte Ltd, Transit Link Pte Ltd

SINGAPORE, 28 April 2005 – With the aim of promoting community awareness on the needs and potential of children with disabilities, EZ-Link and TransitLink collaborated on an innovative campaign from July 2004 to February this year for commuters and tourists to drop their spare ez-link cards or used single trip cards into donation boxes located at three major locations, namely Orchard MRT Station, City Hall MRT Station and Changi Airport MRT Station.

Response to the EZ-Link Card Donation Drive was overwhelming and $50,000 -double the initial target of $25,000 – was raised for the Asian Women’s Welfare Association’s (AWWA) TEACH ME, a Community Chest-supported programme.

The programme supports over 5,000 children, from ages two to 18 years, with varying physical disabilities and intellectual capabilities, helping them to reach their full potential and integrate into mainstream schools.

On Thursday, 28 April 2005, Dr Fong Seck Kong, General Manager of TransitLink, and Mr Nicholas Lee, Senior Vice President of EZ-Link, will present a cheque to Bao Yang from AWWA TEACH ME. The 13-year-old was the poster-boy of the donation drive. On behalf of AWWA, EZ-Link and TransitLink would like to thank all those who had very generously donated their cards and cash for this donation drive.

TransitLink and EZ-Link will continue to partner the Community Chest and contribute to the community by helping to make a difference to the lives of the people in need through other similar card donation drives that will benefit other Community Chest charities soon.
