Sightseeing in Singapore made easier with the ez-link card

Passengers of the local tour bus fleet, City Tours, can now experience the sights and sounds of Singapore with greater convenience by simply tapping their ez-link cards.

SINGAPORE – 22 April, 2010 – With high-profile events such as the upcoming Singapore 2010 Youth Olympic Games and the 2010 Formula 1 Night Race soon to take place in Singapore, as well as world-class attractions such as the Resorts World Sentosa and Marina Bay Sands, locals and visitors to the vibrant city state can now experience the urban and cultural sights and sounds of Singapore with greater convenience with just a tap of their ez-link card!

Gone are the days of having to fumble for coins or ensuring that you have the exact amount of money to purchase tickets, as local tour bus operator, City Tours, have partnered EZ-Link Pte Ltd, issuer of Singapore’s single largest contactless Multi-Purpose Stored Value Card (MPSVC), to equip selected coaches and tour vehicles with the iVal™ CP6000 Next Generation CEPAS Fare Validator.

Starting from 22 April, the ez-link payment service will be available onboard selected FunVee Hopper Buses that are operated by City Tours. From outlining the urban landscape of Singapore’s prominent city spots to exploring the cultural heritage trail to soaking up the vibrant night life that Singapore has to offer, sightseeing has been made more convenient when passengers pay with the ez-link card, which can be purchased at all TransitLink Ticket Offices and Passenger Service Centres in Singapore.

Top-up channels are also widely accessible to consumers within the transit space, such as at all the bus interchanges and train stations. In addition, the ez-link card can also be topped-up across several non-transit channels, which includes over 900 DBS/POSB ATMs, 560 D-Pay enabled AXS Stations and all 7-Eleven outlets island-wide. Passengers who choose to pay for their ride onboard City Tours fleet via their ez-link cards will receive a $3 discount coupon for selected tours such as Captain Explorer DUKw Tour operated by City Tours. The discount will be applicable to tickets purchased via the ez-link card at the City Tours Tourist Hub located at the Singapore Flyer and several other locations.

City Tours is the first tour attraction bus operator in Singapore to be equipped with the Next Generation CEPAS Fare Validator.
