Launch of dual-currency EZ-Link x Touch ‘n Go Motoring Card

Seamless cross-border experience for Singapore motorists travelling to Malaysia

SINGAPORE, 17 August 2020 – EZ-Link Pte Ltd, pioneer of contactless payments in Singapore, and Touch ‘n Go Sdn. Bhd, Malaysia’s biggest multi-application e-purse, today announced the launch of the EZ-Link x Touch ’n Go Motoring Card, Southeast Asia’s first dual-currency cross-border contactless smart card.

With the Reciprocal Green Lane established between Singapore and Malaysia and now in operation, motorists can look forward to a gradual and phased resumption of cross-border travel between the two countries.

The EZ-Link x Touch ’n Go Motoring Card offers motorists the convenience and flexibility of payment options in both countries. It securely hosts two electronic purses – the EZ-Link purse in Singapore Dollars, and the Touch ‘n Go purse in Malaysian Ringgit.

Singapore motorists can use this card for Electronic Road Pricing (ERP) payments, checkpoint toll charges and parking fees at selected car parks in Singapore.

In Malaysia, it can be used to pay for highway tolls, checkpoint toll charges, parking fees as well as bus and MRT fares. It is also accepted at Touch ‘n Go retail outlets. The launch follows the progress announcement made in April 2019, on the joint collaboration between EZ-Link and Touch ‘n Go to develop a dual currency card and provide integrated digital payment at enabled touch points in Singapore and Malaysia.

“It has certainly been a challenging period for everyone where cross-border travel has been restricted, but we look forward to the gradual and safe reopening of the border between Singapore and Malaysia. Our EZ-Link x Touch ‘n Go Motoring Card will bring a new level of convenience for motorists who have to travel between the countries often, and offer added safety and flexibility in contactless payment options.” said Mr. Nicholas Lee, CEO of EZ-Link Pte Ltd. “The card is the first-of-its-kind in the region, and we are committed to continue working with our partners to pioneer new innovations that cater to the varied needs of Singaporeans.”

The Rapid Transit System (RTS) Link project between Singapore and Malaysia also officially resumed last month. EZ-Link looks forward to working closely with the relevant authorities and transport operators, to explore how its products can be further enhanced to add value for consumers.

Availability & Pricing

An initial release of limited stock will be made available for purchase on the Official EZ-Link Store on Lazada Singapore at S$7 with no load value on 17 August 2020. Subsequently, the cards will be made available for sale at selected 7-Eleven convenience stores in Singapore at S$10 inclusive of S$3 load value in the EZ-Link purse in September 2020.
